Diplômée de l'Ecole des Beaux Arts de Bordeaux en 1986, l'artiste Isabelle Chemin n'a cessé de s'interroger sur le fonctionnement cérébral de l'homme sur le plan neuronal, physiologique et de transformer artistiquement ces découvertes et interrogations au sein de créations individuelles ou en groupe. Le handicap de naissance ou par maladie, dégénérescence, altérant le fonctionnement cérébral, est alors entré dans son champ de vie. Au fil des projets entrainant de plus en plus la collaboration avec des personnes non valides, sa perception du monde a complètement changé. En donnant une leçon de courage aux biens portants, le handicap montre qu'il occupe une place funda-mental, c'est-à-dire à la base de notre construction mental et de notre équilibre d'homme.
La technologie, la quête de beauté et l'altruisme faisaient parties intégrantes de la vie de l'homo-sapiens.
Ils étaient des piliers dans sa survie, son développement, son épanouissement.
Notre mode de société a privilégié progressivement au sein de son développement économique et sociale, la technologie, au détriment des arts et de l'altruisme, réduits aujourd'hui à des élans de culture et de solidarité.
Un jour d'avril 2013, le concept de Kilihandy a émergé comme un symbole d'action:
Donner un accès pérenne à des personnes paraplégiques sur le Mont de l'Indépendance (Uhuru Peak) situé sur le volcan Kilimandjaro à 5895m, au sommet du continent africain qui a vu émerger sur la planète terre, l'espèce humaine, pour les élever aux yeux de tous, et redonner au handicap une place funda-mental.

That's what I heard in the taxi in Dar es Salaam, on friday the 6th of December, just before I left Tanzania.
